Compensation :
$80,000 - $95,000 yearly
Responsibilities :
Preoperative Duties :
- Meet the patient in the preoperative area and ensure consent and documents are complete and accurate
- Assist in patient preparation, including positioning, site preparation, and draping in accordance with procedural and safety standards
- Ensure all necessary surgical instruments and equipment are prepared and readily available for procedures
- Conduct preoperative briefings with the surgical team to review case details and procedural requirements
Intraoperative Support :
Provide direct surgical assistance to the operating physician, including tissue handling, retraction, hemostasis, and suturingUtilize advanced surgical techniques and instrumentation to facilitate efficient and precise proceduresMaintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure, adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocolsMonitor and respond to intraoperative needs, adjusting support as necessary to ensure seamless surgical flowPostoperative Responsibilities :
Assist in patient stabilization and transfer the patient from the operating table to the recovery areaEnsure that the proper documentation of surgical procedures is completeParticipate in debriefings to assess procedural outcomes and identify areas for improvementQualifications :
Must hold a valid and current Texas Medical Board-issued Surgical Assistant LicenseValid and current Certification from a recognized accrediting body, such as the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) or the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA)Active Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalentMinimum of 2 years of experience in surgical assisting in a hospital or an outpatient surgical centerExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proficient in medical terminology, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentProficiency in various surgical specialties, including but not limited to cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic, general surgery, and minimally invasive proceduresStrong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skillsForeign MDs must pass TOEFL TestAbout Company
