Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
BSN preferred
Other CLIAFE must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
One-year experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program.
One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred
Outpatient Lactation experience preferred
RN Registered Nuse upon hire reqjuired
IBCLC certification required within 2 years
IBCLC upon hire preferred
CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 90 days and maintained annually
NRP Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days
What You Will Do
Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients families community staff and physicians.
Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.
Produce documentation that initiates follows and revises patients plan of care.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.
Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.
Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
