Position Overview :

The Department of Music at The College of New Jersey welcomes applications for an Associate Director of Bands and Artist Teacher of Instrumental Performance. This is a full-time, clinical specialist position (non-tenure track). Teaching and academic-advising responsibilities to include : |

• Conduct TCNJ Concert Band and / or TCNJ Wind Orchestra.
• Serve as artist-teacher (private lesson faculty) in the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Teach additional courses in the music education curriculum based on the candidate’s area of expertise and department needs. Possible courses might include conducting, instrumental literature, brass / woodwind / percussion methods courses, and student teaching supervision.
• Serve as the academic advisor for a cohort of music majors and / or minors.

The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of the Department of Music, in close collaboration with the Director of Bands. They will foster a high-level performance and education environment in a diverse liberal arts context. Excellent oral, interpersonal, and writing skills are required. A clear understanding of current developments in secondary and post-secondary education is essential. In order to be considered for promotion, service to the College is expected, with a prioritization of independent, departmental, and college-wide recruitment. Developing and maintaining contacts and sustained relationships with local and regional music educators is crucial.
