Harborview Medical Center - Interpreter Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Interpreter, Spanish

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week

Tuesday - Saturday

Day Shift

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Enable patient(s) to access medical care

Be a part of a team dedicated to improving language access

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide interpretation for target languages

Provide accurate rendition of a written text in one language to an oral message in another language

Provide accurate rendition of an oral message in one language to a written text in another language

Must be able to provide written translation, this includes both typed and handwritten text, and oral translation from one language to another

Manage complexity of cross-cultural encounter

Utilize / integrate ethical practice to guide behavior in all interpretations

Consult with provider prior to encounter

Assess patients' interpretation needs

Explain and clarify cultural behaviors

REQUIREMENTS

High school graduation or equivalent AND three years interpretation and translation experience in a clinic or hospital setting

AND medical interpreter certification or qualification either from Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.

Equivalent education and / or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and / or registration.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum : $63,024.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum : $90,252.00 annual
