Position Summary

The Security Officer I serves as the first line of safety and hospitality for the church campus. The position requires a Level III Commissioned Security Officer license (active and in good standing with the Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Bureau).

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a calm and professional demeanor, and the ability to engage warmly with diverse guests while maintaining awareness, vigilance, and adherence to the church’s Safety and Security Plan.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a visible, welcoming, and reassuring presence during worship services, community meals, and special events.

Monitor building entrances, parking areas, and gathering spaces to ensure the safety of congregants, staff, and guests.

Conduct campus walkthroughs and assist with opening and closing procedures.

Respond to medical, behavioral, or safety incidents calmly and appropriately following church protocols.

Collaborate with staff, clergy, and volunteers to balance security and radical hospitality in all interactions.

Maintain clear written and verbal communication with the Safety Manager regarding incidents, concerns, and follow-up actions.

Support emergency preparedness, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and shelter-in-place protocols.

Participate in required safety trainings and maintain compliance with state and church standards.

Be available for weekend shifts (particularly Sundays ), occasional Saturdays , and some weekday evenings on an on-call basis.
