Entry Level Biologist

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly motivated entry level biologist to join our team and support field surveys in the great plains and western mountains (CO, NE, WY, MT, and ND) and subsequent reporting. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist who is prepared to learn and grow their experience with biological resources, natural resources, and technical writing.

The primary responsibilities for this position include supporting biological / natural resource surveys in the great plains and western mountains in CO, NE, WY, MT, SD and ND, or other locations as assigned. Additional responsibilities include :

• Conducting multiple types of biological / natural resource surveys throughout the United States as needed for project requirements
• Working on several projects at one time in different phases of the project life and prioritizing work across all projects as assigned to maintain the schedule and ensure data quality (i.e., ensuring timely completion of data quality assurance / quality control and report writing around fieldwork assignments)
• Supporting writing and review of technical reports.
• Potentially completing work / surveys outside of biological sciences (geotechnical and utility surveys, water sampling, etc.).
• Logistics support for large field mobilizations- assisting with equipment relocation to different field sites as needed, equipment inventory, maintenance, etc. as assigned.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Qualifications :

This position requires ability to hike up to 5-10 miles per day through challenging terrain. Excellent organization and oral / written communications skills. Ability to take clear and accurate field notes by hand or on a tablet / smartphone. Ability to prioritize a variety of assignments in time-critical situations. Ability to analyze available data and draw valid, defensible conclusions. Schedule must have flexibility to travel (land and / or air), at times on short notice. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license in good standing and successfully pass a motor vehicle background check in accordance with company policy.
