Why This Role Matters

The Washington Post is looking for a transformative technical accounting manager to join the leadership team of our Financial Accounting department. You will cultivate a team of high-performing senior accountants, provide timely and accurate financial information, and drive process improvements across the business.

This role reports to the Controller.

• You are a subject matter expert on technical accounting issues, preparation, and analysis of financial statements and disclosures in accordance with GAAP, and you advise on the appropriate treatment for business operations.
• You enjoy preparing, reviewing, and updating existing memoranda documenting the Company's decisions and judgments on accounting matters.
• You are skilled at organizing competing priorities, balancing core responsibilities such as month-end close, year-end close, audit processes, and managing the financial accounting team while collaborating with stakeholders.
• You provide assistance and oversight to risk management, tax, treasury, and international compliance functions.
• You are intellectually curious, innovative with processes and automation tools, and possess strong attention to detail and a dedication to quality.
• You welcome the role evolving as the organization changes and new needs arise.
• You propose and implement process improvements to gain efficiency and streamline workflows, especially moving from manual work to RPA and AI-enabled processes.
• You are comfortable working with new technology and various systems.

Salary range : $105,600 – $176,000 Annual. The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications. The position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program; a Talent Acquisition team member will discuss bonus terms during the interview process.
