Job Title : Activities Coordinator

Department : Foster Youth Services

Location : Corporate

Reports To : Vocational Program Manager

FLSA Status : Exempt

Salary Range : $70,304 - $75,000

Position Summary : The Activities Coordinator will report directly to the Vocational Program Manager and will lead and manage health and wellness initiatives for both long-term and short-term foster family agencies within Marsell’s nine FFA programs. This role is dedicated to promoting nutrition, physical activity, leisure time services, and overall well-being for children and youth in care. The coordinator will oversee a comprehensive range of programs and services, including recreational activities, physical education, religious services (with responsibility for auditing logs submitted by programs and foster parents), nutrition initiatives, and Harvest of the Month. Additionally, the Coordinator will implement assessments to track individualized physical activity and health, utilize the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH), and develop strategies to improve health outcomes for foster youth.

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President of Foster Youth Services, Vocational Program Manager, and Program Directors to ensure all staff and materials are prepared for activities and events.
  • Collect and analyze feedback on activities and events, implementing continuous quality improvement on program’s needs, enhance satisfaction, and increase engagement.
  • Oversee and manage program operations, including planning, administrative tasks, and tracking supplies and equipment for activities and events.
  • Order, maintain, and track supplies and equipment for activities and events.
  • Facilitate and design wellness initiatives that promote safe, healthy lifestyles, focusing on nutrition, physical activity, and leisure time services.
  • Develop, coordinate, and regularly evaluate fitness and wellness programs to ensure growth and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including activity tracking, records, and environmental safety and wellness indicators.
  • Monitor compliance with ORR and state nutrition and meal service requirements, reviewing food service and menu documentation to ensure consistency with safety and dietary standards.

  • Support Resource Parent and caregiver training by monitoring completion, quality indicators, documentation, and alignment with regulatory expectations.

  • Monitor ongoing recreational, physical activity, leisure time, and religious services for quality and accessibility.
  • Implement assessments to track individualized physical activity and health, utilizing approaches such as the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) and Harvest of the Month.
  • Support nutrition, lunch, and snack menu calendars, including providing dietary alternatives to meet the diverse needs of youth in care.

Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent knowledge, skill, and / or ability.   • Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and implementing coordinated activities in a school or licensed facility with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience working with youth in foster care, refugee, or immigrant populations is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and deliver creative, age-appropriate wellness activities for minors.
  • Experience in in training and supervising staff and volunteers in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate minors.
  • Proficient in collecting, analyzing, and applying feedback to improve programming.
  • Education / Experience : An associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or five years of experience coordinating structured activities for children or youth in a school or licensed facility.

    A associates / bachelor ’s degree in child development, social sciences, public administration, or a related field is preferred.

    Language Ability :

    Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

    Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

    Mathematical Ability :

    Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability :

    Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills :

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment.
