Salary : $55,000.00-$65,000.00
Position Summary
The Beardsley Zoo is seeking a Staff Accountant to become an integral member of its financial and business operations team. The Zoo is embarking on a multi-year plan to expand its exhibits for an engaging guest experience and to grow its outreach through on-site and off-site workshops, classes, and training. This new position will be responsible for providing strong transactional support to the Senior Staff Accountant in key areas such as revenue recording, disbursement processing, vendor management, and bank reconciliation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specific Short-Term Responsibilities :
- Secure invoice receipt, sign-off, uploading into QB and maintaining vendor files
- Administer scheduled check runs
- Record admission, retail and café revenue receipts
- Promptly prepare monthly bank and investment account reconciliations, and intra-account journal entries for review by the Accounting Manager
- Prepare daily cash receipt entries for review by the Accounting Manager
- Full scope fixed asset accounting
Longer-Term Responsibilities :
Full scope retail store inventory accountingAssist with integrating automatic updating of payroll and fixed-asset activity into QB OnlineWork with the Finance team to strengthen reconciliation procedures for all sub-ledgersWork with Director of Finance in Annual Budget preparation and scenario modelingUpload and maintain annual budget in QB OnlineWork with Director and Senior Staff Accountant in schedule preparation for annual auditQualifications and Requirements
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.1-2 years of accounting / finance experience.Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation is required.Intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred.
