Position Overview
The CMM Programmer / Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of machined parts and assemblies. This position is primarily responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining CMM programs using PC-DMIS software, while also performing hands-on inspections using a wide range of measuring tools and quality assurance techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit CMM programs in PC-DMIS for dimensional inspections of machined parts and assemblies.
- Review complex blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings to plan inspection strategies.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using statistical inspection methodologies.
- Operate a variety of precision inspection tools including CMMs, optical comparators, and electronic measurement equipment.
- Verify part finish, dimensions, and material characteristics per specifications.
- Record and analyze inspection data; communicate results clearly to engineering and production teams.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and vendors to troubleshoot quality issues and support corrective / preventive actions.
- Create and conduct Gage R&R studies and introduce new inspection techniques.
- Continuously seek improvements in inspection efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
Technical college education in Quality Assurance, Inspection, or Machining, or equivalent hands-on experience.Proven experience in CMM programming using PC-DMIS (required).Strong understanding of statistical quality assurance methods and inspection best practices.Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T.Familiarity with automatic vision inspection systems and plastic components (preferred).Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).Self-starter who takes initiative, asks questions, and provides solutions.Excellent communication and teamwork skills; comfortable collaborating across departments.Flexible, responsible, and open to feedback; able to work independently with minimal supervision.Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends.Compensation & Benefits
