Real Estate Associate (Class of 2021–2022)
Location: New York, NY & Boston, MA
A leading New York law firm is seeking a mid-level Real Estate Associate (Class of 2021–2022) to join a sophisticated, fast-paced real estate practice handling complex, high-value transactions across the full real estate lifecycle.
Core Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience with:
- Commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, including single-asset and multi-asset portfolio transactions
- Construction, bridge, and permanent financings, representing both institutional lenders and sophisticated borrowers
- Equity and debt joint venture transactions, including drafting and negotiating JV agreements, operating agreements, and side letters
- Transactions involving real estate private equity sponsors, institutional investors, and asset managers
- REITs, real estate funds, and fund-level investments, including sponsor and investor-side matters
- Entity formation and structuring, including LLCs, LPs, holding companies, and upstream/downstream restructurings
- Exposure to transactions involving all major asset classes: residential (including multifamily), industrial/logistics, office, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, and land
Highly Valued (Stand-Out) Experience
Candidates with one or more of the following will stand out:
- Experience on large-scale or high-dollar transactions (nine-figure or larger)
- Meaningful involvement in deal execution, not just diligence (e.g., drafting primary documents, running workstreams, coordinating closings)
- Familiarity with preferred equity, mezzanine financing, or structured equity investments
- Experience working directly with private equity real estate sponsors or institutional investment platforms
- Prior experience at an AmLaw 50/100 or elite real estate boutique with a strong deal flow
- Comfort managing multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-moving environment
