We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis seeks an experienced Designer/Senior Designer to join the Central Highways team. This designer will directly support the Highway/Roadway group and will be a critical team member for many of our projects including those with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The successful candidate will also provide support for the design, production and coordination of construction plans and drawings for projects. In addition, this person can select and recommend design procedures to improve team function.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Provides highway and roadway design solutions in a 3D environment.
• Interprets complex ordinances and specifications.
• Analyzes design requirements.
• Reviews designs to ensure compliance with engineers and project requirements.
• Complies with the company established standards, conventions, procedures, and applicable engineering codes/practices.
• Prioritizes multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Coordinates with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines as needed.

What will you contribute?

• 7+ years' experience in drafting and designing related to highways (required)
• Proficiency in designing in 3D in Microstation’s Power InRoads SS10 or OpenRoads Designer (required)
• Mentor less experienced designers and engineers as needed.
• Proven technical writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of produces for conceptual and final design of utilities, grading, pavement and drainage, details for bridges, roadway alignment, etc.
• Researches, recommends, and presents alternate design approaches based upon client request, governmental code requirements and other needs.
• Performs and supervises designs utilizing CAD.
• Coordinates, monitors and oversees design completion, permit applications, material quantities and cost estimates performed by junior designers and technicians.
• Assists junior professionals in making design decisions.
• Organizes or directs field visits to collect data or resolve design conflicts.
• Familiarity with AASHTO design criteria and ability to pick up other states design criteria and apply it to projects.
• Proven technical writing and communication skills.
