Job Title: Detailer: Build & Set up drawings
Department: Design (Technical)
Reports to: Detailing Manager
Job Description:
Create build and set updrawings for a multitude of marketing structures in various environments.
Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Create, update and maintain 2D and 3D model files and shop drawings for exhibits, museums, and event spaces from design documents and input from Project Managers and Designers
- Meet deadlines for all drawing packages as requested by other departments
- Pro-actively communicate with other departments to confirm and gather necessary information to maintain accuracy of all drawing packages
- Manage computer files and structures within AutoDesk programs and Windows software
- Open and manipulate existing drawing files
- Collaborate with multiple parties to create build models that reflect a variety of fabrication techniques.
- Utilize existing workflows to efficiently & accurately create part files for CNC programing.
- Create project support documentation including, but not limited to: assembly instructions, parts lists, production methods, graphic, finish, and material locations, 3D “Exploded Views”, and pictures of physical parts/assemblies.
- Assist in other detailing functions such as, but not limited to: testing, assembling, brainstorming, research and development
- Function in a team environment proactively and productively
- Take direction but must be self-motivated and work well setting immediate objectives with little direct oversight on time management.
- Maintain a workflow in accordance with standards and requested schedules
- Prepare models, plans, elevations as required for shop fabrication
- Generate cut files for piece/parts for CNC operations, as required
- Contribute as a team member in multiple groups to produce a quality project for the client
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED)
- Minimum: Associate’s Degree in architectural related drafting or equivalent experience
- Preferred: engineering or design-related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
Knowledge and Experience:
- possess strong 3D CAD design skills (Solidworks, Inventor, or Fusion 360)
- possess AutoCAD or Inventor Certification and/or three years proficient AutoCAD experience (minimum of 3 years as an AutoCAD drafter)
- have basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11
- have basic knowledge of Google Docs or equivalent (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- have basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator
- able to work on regular/familiar tasks with limited supervision
- able to work on new/unfamiliar tasks with close supervision
- have a solid understanding of engineering/construction documentation
- have shop experience and working knowledge of basic fabrication techniques when it comes to working with plastic, wood, laminates, metal
- having previous tradeshow, museum, and event industry experience is a plus
- knowledge of CNC router workflows and a familiarity with preparing files for those tools and workflows
