HVAC Mechanic III

Job Description

Montgomery College, Rockville, has an immediate need for a HVAC Mechanic III. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6 : 30am – 3 : 00pm. This is a Bargaining, Non-Exempt, grade 25 position. Non-exempt positions are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Duties include but are not limited to :

• Maintain, install and repair commercial heating and air-conditioning systems, controls and related subsystems and components.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot air distribution, air balancing, stratification, building insulation and vapor deficiencies.
• Repair or replace failed sensors, transmitters and transducers for control systems.
• Repair, retrofit or install new direct digital control (DDC) systems’ hardware and software.
• Adjust boilers, chillers, air handling units, motor controls, refrigerant systems’ operating parameters from their own interface panels or the building automation systems (BAS).
• Install, maintain and retrofit new electro-mechanical relay logic control circuits, pneumatic logic controls, damper or valve actuators and / or variable frequency drives.
• Perform program maintenance work and routine checkups to ensure the DDC system continues to operate as commissioned including backups and database server maintenance.
• Monitor and inspect construction projects and contract work to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and with national, state and local code requirements.
• Maintains records of work performed and parts and materials used.
• Maintain records of equipment operation logs to include temperature, pressures, volts, amps, combustion efficiency reports, safety inspections and equipment refrigerant records.
• Maintain records of equipment failures and repairs

Required Qualifications :

Hiring Range : $27.68 - $35.98 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $44.27.
