As a member of our fast-paced, product-development team you will provide software engineering leadership and hands on technical expertise to support the development of embedded software for military systems. As a Software Engineer Manager, you will contribute directly to the design and development of embedded software as well as manage a team of expert embedded software engineers. In this role you will be responsible for the complete software development lifecycle, leading software development of complex projects from defining software requirements through release to production. You will be a key contributor in defining the software architecture and designing for efficiency and reuse. You will lead the team in best practices, staff to meet project needs, conduct performance evaluations and support career development. This role requires an energetic and motivated individual with strong communication, organization, and technical skills who works well in a multi-disciplinary team. / ph3Essential Functions / h3ulliLead the estimation, planning, and execution of software through complete SDLC. / liliWork closely with Project Engineers to ensure projects are staffed to meet plan. / liliExecute software development using both agile and waterfall methodologies. / liliDesign, document, develop, and test highly reusable software. / liliUnderstand customer and system requirements and translate into software requirements. / liliLead and participate in software design and code reviews. / liliParticipate in integration, debug, and test of software and hardware. / liliEstablish software development best practices to maximize quality and productivity. / liliRecruit and staff appropriate skillsets to meet forecasted business needs. / liliConduct performance evaluations and support career development / liliSupport, train, and / or mentor other team members in best practices. / li / ulh3Qualifications / h3ulliBachelors Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience / lili5+ years of embedded software development experience / lili3+ years in a software management role / liliExpert in C++ / C development for embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) / li / ulh3Preferred Additional Skills / h3ulliBS / MS degree in Computer Engineering or related field. / liliExperience developing software for embedded linux applications / liliProficient at distilling system requirements into software requirements. / liliProficient at software design methodologies (e.g., UML). / liliProficient with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. / liliKnowledge of multi-threaded development and interrupt servicing. / liliKnowledge of communications protocols (e.g., USB, I2C, SPI, UART etc.) / liliKnowledge of networking (e.g., TCP / IP), wireless, and Ethernet protocols. / liliExperience designing embedded products for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) / liliProficient with Git and Jira / liliExperience developing applications for mobile platforms / liliExperience with Jenkins and DevSecOps tool chains / liliProficient with electrical schematics and circuits. / liliExperience with ELM / DOORS Requirements Management / liliSelf-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. / li / ulpL3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
