American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift PCU position requiring a NM or compact RN license, recent telemetry / progressive care experience, and travel assignment history.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a progressive care unit (PCU) with over 18 beds in a hospital settingPatient population consists of medically complex, long-term stay patients at the Med / Surg level awaiting community placementNo direct escalation path to ICU; strong assessment and de-escalation skills required12-hour night shifts, 0.9 FTE with weekends and on-call required as neededFloating to other departments or local locations within 20 miles is mandatoryEpic EMR is used and experience is preferredPrimary duties include providing direct patient care using the nursing process, administering medications, and documenting according to protocolsPCU nurses are responsible for assessing and intervening with deteriorating patients due to absence of immediate ICU escalationCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide education to patients and familiesMay supervise LPNs and assistive personnel as neededCharge nurse experience is preferred but not requiredBasic Cardiac Arrhythmia test is administered on first day during orientation; failure to pass leads to contract cancellationFirst-time travelers will not be accepted due to travel assignment requirementScrub color or dress code requirements not specified\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license for New Mexico or compact state requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red CrossMinimum of two years current experience in a telemetry or progressive care unit with 18 or more bedsSuccessful completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment requiredAssociate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) requiredMust pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test on site during orientation; one retake allowed, failure will result in dismissalNIHSS certification preferredNo local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from facilityReturning perm staff must wait one year before being considered as a traveler\n Benefits\n
