The Utilities Operation Power Plant Manager manages four Utility Plants and approximately 25 personnel an Operations Division and a Maintenance Division that provides Utility Services (Chilled Water Steam Compressed Air and Electricity) to the entire University of Arkansas Campus in Fayetteville. For context the Universities Chilled Water System provides 14550 tons of chilled water and 130000 lb / hr of steam production. This position will be on-call for after-hours emergencies and during inclement weather if needed.
Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications :
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
At least five years equivalent experience in central utility plant or manufacturing plant operations and maintenance (please see Additional Information for details)
Valid Drivers License
Ability to obtain an Arkansas Boiler Operator License with 7 months.
Ability to obtain a Gas Operations License within 7 months
Preferred Qualifications :
At least four years of supervisory experience
Power Plant Operator Certification
Experience with Natural Gas Pipeline
Experience with FAMIS (departmental software) or equivalent CMMS System
Experience with gas turbine operations and maintenance
Knowledge Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge and practical application of the principles practices methods and safety precautions in plant operations
Knowledge of the laws regulations and codes relating to plant operations
Knowledge and practical application of management and supervisory principles and techniques
Knowledge of the state budgetary process
Ability to read and interpret blueprints manuals schematics building plans and / or work drawings
Manage procurement process materials ordering and inventory management
Ability to supervise skilled trades workers and / or supervisors
Ability to plan and coordinate all phases of service repairs installation and / or construction projects in one or more of the skilled trades
Basic use and understanding of Microsoft Office products and CMMS systems for Work order management
