Experimental Research Interns
Assist with the construction, installation, and operation of Realta contracted projects on the Wisconsin High-temperature superconducting Axisymmetric Mirror (WHAM) experiment.Interns can expect to gain experience of working safely with :high vacuum systems
pulsed power hardwarecontrol system softwarehigh-temperature superconducting magnetsfusion specific plasma diagnosticsTheory and Modeling Research Interns
Work with the RealTwin suite of modeling tools, focused on the development of a digital twin of the WHAM experiment.Utilize and contribute to advanced modeling codes, including VPIC, WarpX, Gkeyll, CQL3D, and other high-performance computing tools.Gain hands-on experience in Python, Julia, Fortran, shell scripting, and other programming languages.Engineering and Design Interns
Assist with Multiphysics simulations, radiation transport and activation studies, MHD studies of flowing liquid metals, and more.Projects will be tailored to the applicant’s interest and skills.Other Exceptional Interns

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to work on-site at either the Realta Fusion office (Madison, WI) or the Physical Sciences Laboratory (near Stoughton, WI).Authorized to work in the United States.Approximately two years away from entering the workforce (e.g., rising junior or equivalent academic standing).Demonstrated strong work habits and a commitment to safety.Internship Timeframe
Summer 2026 internship at the Physical Sciences Laboratory and Realta Fusion Madison office between May and August 2026 (start / end dates are flexible). On-site work is required.Full-time (40 hours / week) internship.If the internship is successful and scheduling allows, there may be an opportunity to continue part-time during the academic year.
