We provide daily access to nutritious meals, academic support, enrichment programming, and recreational activities. Position Overview
The Enrichment Facilitator plays a critical role in designing and delivering dynamic educational and community service activities that reflect the diverse interests, learning styles, and developmental needs of our members. This position requires a creative, organized, and community-oriented individual who can serve as both an educator and ambassador for BGC. The Facilitator will collaborate with local schools, colleges, volunteers, and community organizations to enrich the lives of youth and support their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Program Facilitation & Instruction
Plan and lead weekly or bi-weekly enrichment activities, including community service and experiential learning projects.Integrate academic concepts into hands-on activities (e.g., using cooking to teach math and science).Facilitate group reading and learning sessions for youth not engaged in one-on-one tutoring.Support tutoring initiatives by coordinating with staff and college partners.Youth Supervision & Engagement
Supervise youth during structured program rotations, field trips, and free-choice activities.Serve as a positive role model, promoting respectful behavior and teamwork.Uphold New York State Childcare Regulations and BGC safety protocols.Academic Support & Tutoring Coordination
Familiarize yourself with New York State Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.Collaborate with staff to develop individualized learning strategies and goals.Coordinate with Hobart & William Smith Colleges (HWS) to recruit, train, and manage college tutors.Provide coaching and feedback to tutors; review time sheets and conduct evaluations.Maintain communication with tutors via GroupMe and attend HWS-hosted trainings.Community Engagement & Special Events
Assist in planning and executing quarterly Family Fun Nights and annual showcases (e.g., BGC Fair, Annual Dinner).Organize contests and creative displays (e.g., shirt design, calendar art).Identify and cultivate partnerships with community organizations and presenters.Coordinate logistics for youth participation in external camps and workshops.Support STEM programming and assist with Science / STEM Fair planning.Operational Support
Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.Conduct ongoing assessments of program effectiveness and member progress.Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with site cleanliness and upkeep.Complete van training and provide transportation for interns, tutors, and staff as needed.Encourage youth to explore new interests, collaborate with peers, and strive for personal excellence.Preferred Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in education, youth development, or a related field; BGC experience preferred.Minimum one year of experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or youth development setting.Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident public speaker.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; respectful and professional in all interactions.Passion for learning and youth empowerment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, email, and internet-based tools.Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.Current CPR / AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).Physical ability to move throughout the facility and carry supplies as needed.Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
