We are seeking a strategic, relationship‑driven financial leader with deep expertise in municipal finance and a passion for public service to serve as the City of Amarillo’s Chief Financial Officer.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide financial advice to the City Manager and Governing Body regarding revenue generation, debt issuances, expenditures, and capital projects.
- Work with City leadership to explore new revenue sources, optimize existing revenue streams, and manage cash flows.
- Develop long‑term financial strategies, including forecasting, scenario planning, and financial modeling to ensure fiscal stability and sustainability.
- Oversee the City's financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements consistent with GAAP and applicable local / state regulations.
- Manage internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Directly oversee the Finance Director and supervise the Divisions of Finance, Purchasing, Utility Billing, and Vital Statistics.
Education & Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.Minimum 10 years progressively responsible municipal finance experience.At least 5 years in an executive or leadership role managing $200M+ budgets.CPA license.Valid Texas Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.Preferred
Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, MPA).Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) certification.Experience with large‑scale ERP implementations.Experience with municipal debt management and bond issuance.Compensation & Benefits
Salary range $143,208 – $217,492 DOE / DOQ.
