Emergency Technician

Description

The Emergency Department Assistant functions within his / her scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to assist in providing care and implementing delegated activities of the nursing plan. S / he demonstrates an understanding of basic nursing skills and utilizes specialized knowledge, skills and techniques in Emergency care to perform and assist in performance of patient care in the Emergency Department.

S / he assumes delegated responsibilities which may include but are not limited to such tasks as : meeting the hygienic, elimination, comfort and safety needs of patients; obtains and records / reports vital signs, applies both metal and plaster splints, access and records on the patient's medical record, transports patients, specimens, etc., assists in physically lifting patient, restraining confused / combative patients, performs phlebotomy procedures and point of care testing.

Required Qualifications :

• Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire.
