Title : Process Engineering Co-op (January - May 2026, August - December 2026)

Location(s) : East Alton, Illinois; Independence, Missouri; Oxford, Mississippi

Salary : $ / hour

Housing Stipend Available

Focus : The Process Engineering Co-op supports operations, maintenance, and safety teams in manufacturing excellence goals. This includes continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Process Engineering Co-Op Essential Job Functions :

  • Lead a minimum of three hands-on projects throughout the term, to be defined at the beginning of the rotation based on department and business need
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvement related to the production of small caliber ammunition
  • Collect, process, and communicate data to support engineering projects and process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Process Engineering Co-Op Minimum Requirements :

  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Engineering degree program; Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering preferred. Preference given to students located within 50 miles of the assigned Olin location.
  • Must have an overall grade point average of or higher on a scale at all times throughout your time at Olin. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.
  • Must have completed sophomore year prior to first rotation with Olin
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) either January – May 2026 or August – December 2026. Not eligible for virtual work.
  • Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of shooting sports industry is preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates with availability and desire to work a minimum of three (3) terms with no more than one of those terms occurring over the summer
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with the Department of Justice and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work / student visa
  • Independence Location Only : This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with Army and Department of Defense access policies. The Government does not allow citizens onsite at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Independence, Missouri). Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a citizen.
