Many patients, including children, teens, and adults, find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn intimidating. As a Phlebotomist, you will use your skills to put patients at ease while collecting blood specimens, processing samples, and performing reference laboratory procedures. This role requires expertise in blood collection across all age groups and includes related techniques such as glucose tolerance tests and blood cultures. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day / evening / night / weekend shifts varying between 4 : 00 a.m. - 12 : 30 p.m. or 12 : 00 p.m. - 8 : 30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

• Collect blood, process specimens and perform reference laboratory processing in laboratory testing.
• Perform related techniques, such as blood glucose tests and blood cultures.
• Prepare samples for testing and manage specimens in the laboratory information system.
• Prepare and ship reference laboratory specimens and resolve pending specimens and pending transports.
• Monitor test ordering patients and requisitions to ensure compliance with outpatient laboratory testing.
