Linux DevOps Administrator

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to support a mission-critical research environment that directly enables world-class research. This is a senior individual-contributor role requiring deep technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux ecosystems (Rocky Linux, RHEL, CentOS), automation, and operational excellence in a highly collaborative non-profit research setting. This position is located within a group otherwise engaged in management of Windows-based directory services and Nutanix virtual environments, that is transitioning to a more DevSecOps automated operations regime.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• W2 Only
• 7+ years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience in production environments
• Extensive experience with Rocky Linux and other Red Hat-based distributions

Core Technical Competencies

Expert-level administration of Rocky Linux / RHEL including :

Strong proficiency in core networking concepts and protocols, including :

Monitoring :   Nagios / Core administration, check development, and maintenance

DevOps and automation :   Ansible (playbook development, inventory management, large-scale automation)

Container technologies  (Docker / Podman) – build, optimization, troubleshooting Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift experience

Strong scripting capability :   Bash, sed, awk, grep (must be able to develop and debug complex scripts)
