Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Visualization Developer to support a key federal client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining advanced data visualizations, interactive dashboards, and self-service reporting solutions using SAP Business Objects, Tableau and Power BI. This role is crucial in transforming complex datasets into intuitive and actionable visual formats that support decision‑making and enhance data understanding across stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area, requiring on‑site presence three days per week.

Responsibilities

Design and develop sophisticated, interactive, and user‑friendly dashboards, reports, and data visualizations tailored to meet business and technical requirements.

Collaborate closely with data analysts, business users, UI / UX teams, and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into compelling visual outputs.

Build and optimize self‑service BI environments that empower users to explore data independently.

Create custom data visualizations using JavaScript libraries such as D3.js, Chart.js, and jQuery.

Develop and maintain visualization solutions using modern tools and frameworks like Tableau, Power BI, AngularJS, HTML, and CSS.

Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data for reporting and analytics.

Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security in all visual products.

Document solutions and maintain version control of deliverables.

Stay current with emerging data visualization and front‑end development technologies and best practices.

Required Skills And Experience

Demonstrated expertise in :

SAP Business Objects, Tableau and Power BI

JavaScript, including D3.js, Chart.js, and / or jQuery

SQL (strong querying and performance tuning skills)

HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design

AngularJS or similar front‑end frameworks

Experience working with large and complex datasets in secure environments.

Experience with data warehousing projects in cloud‑based data platforms.

Proven ability to interpret and communicate data insights effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Strong understanding of data modeling, data integrity, and data security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting federal clients or working in government environments.

Familiarity with Agile or DevSecOps development practices.

Experience integrating visualizations into web‑based applications

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.

Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in data visualization, BI development, or front‑end development with a focus on data representation.
