Senior Laboratory Technician

What You'll Do Be involved with routine geotechnical/construction materials laboratory testing including: soils, concrete and masonry laboratory test performance Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, keeping the laboratory organized and in compliance with QA/QC initiatives, DOT, AMRL, CCRL, and AASHTO accreditation requirements Calculations and data reduction of test results and other administrative duties, as appropriate There will be times that you will also function as a field technician performing soils and concrete testing in the field, additionally observing and documenting construction activities Work Environment: The employee may be exposed to weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments. Noise levels will typically be moderate to moderately loud. Some weekend and overtime work may be required. You will at times also perform technician level duties. Some overnight travel may be required. Physical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of what a laboratory and field technician may encounter and are essential functions of the position. You will be involved primarily with laboratory work involving long term standing and repetitive motions. You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You will have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. Lifting – The employee will regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40 pounds [soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus]; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds [soils and sand samples, and nuclear density equipment]; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds [such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples].
