Description : Job Overview
The Early Childhood Teacher responsible for providing a safe educationally stimulating, and nurturing environment for children at the AVANCE Service sites and is responsible for always creating a welcoming atmosphere for AVANCE internal employees and AVANCE external program participants.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides developmentally appropriate activities that stimulate learning in young children.
- Studies and prepares activities according to lesson plans.
- Provides and / or prepares supplies needed for the children's health and safety.
- Cares for children in the classroom and playground.
- Maintains a healthy, safe, stimulating, attractive and learning environment.
- Assures that parents sign-in and sign-out all children on attendance sheets.
- Labels all children's belongings and makes sure parents pick-up all belongings at end of session.
- Serves meals and / or snacks and teach table cleanliness and manners.
- Creates and maintains theme areas (centers) in classroom.
- Transports equipment, supplies and materials according to program schedule.
- Follows lead teacher’s guidance, instruction and assignments as needed.
- Prepares materials for instruction for parents and children one week in advance.
- Maintains proper hygiene of children and all equipment and space used in the care of children daily.
- Meets weekly with Lead Teacher to plan activities and curriculum.
- Daily schedule and lesson plan are posted and followed.
- Collaborate and support childcare teachers in situations when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

High School Diploma or Educational EquivalentPreferred :

Ability to travel to various sites : Dependable transportation is required daily with a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record (subject to annual MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) check and policy), current auto liability insurance and be bondable by AVANCE, Inc.Travel required up to 25% of the time for work-related site visits, meetings, and functions.Equipment

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with interruptions and deadlines; walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasional : lifting / carrying, pulling / pushing 10-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Factors
Occasional exposure to : biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional expose to weather related conditions when working in outside environment / neighborhoods and events.
