This role involves providing care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. This position implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN will complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards, based on patient and family needs. The plan of care includes implementing nursing interventions and patient care procedures. It is important to modify the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others is essential to resolve issues directly and in private when necessary. Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is encouraged. Colleagues should be consulted to expand the knowledge base. Identifying personal learning needs and initiating appropriate solutions is a responsibility of the RN. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected.
