Clark College is currently accepting applications for a Tenure-track full-time Professor of the Addiction Counseling Education and the Bachelor of Science in Human Services programs part of the Division of Social Sciences and Fine Arts. Department and college service work is expected with the position (as assigned by the division or college) to support the institutional mission and goals foremost being student success and retention. We welcome applicants with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students from diverse backgrounds in a climate that advances all aspects of equity including but not limited to race ethnicity religion ability age gender socioeconomic status and sexual orientation. We welcome candidates who promote multicultural understanding and practice and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to student learning and educational goal attainment. Primary responsibilities of this position include teaching classes in both departments student advising scheduling of classes program marketing advisory board facilitation tracking of vocational educational certifications management of field placements and community engagement. This position may incorporate a variety of instructional modalities such as hybrid and online and requires extensive use of technology.

The Addiction Counselor Education Department (ACED) is a 2-year program which consists of an Associates of Arts degree Associates of Sciences degree and a Certificate of Proficiency. The AAS degree is certified as a Department of Health program which qualifies students for licensure as a Substance Use Disorder Professional in the State of Washington. The Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Human Services is a transfer degree primarily focused on Behavioral Health. Both programs offer evening courses for working adults.

This position begins September 15 2023 .

Position Responsibilities

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Instruct all classes as an expert in the discipline using active learning approaches that both engage and facilitate student learning.
  • Advise and assist students in their educational and career development.
  • Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
  • Pursue professional development to stay current in the field.
  • Obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification requirements.
  • Participate in program curriculum development and assessment activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues businesses advisory committees and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities at Clark College.
  • Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees.
  • Work well with people of all ages from academically culturally and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.
  • Work cooperatively in a variety of department-level activities and college or company-wide projects.
  • Pursue professional development to enhance teaching and learning in the department and College.
  • Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES :

  • Masters Degree in Counseling Social Work or related field.
  • Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with state and local licensing requirement.
  • Understanding and commitment to the mission of community colleges and the kinds of faculty work expected at an open admissions college.
  • Ability and willingness to work well with people of all ages from academically culturally and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Supplemental Information

    SALARY STATEMENT :

    Starting salary is $67948 (non-negotiable). Faculty may be eligible to advance every other year; current top step is $95712. Salary is for a 173-day contract; additional compensation is available for summer and moonlight teaching and doctoral and vocational stipends. Please note the salary may be adjusted for the 2023-2024 year to reflect the legislatively funded cost-of-living.
