We are currently seeking a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer for our client in the Technology (Optical Solutions) domain. Duration : 6+ Months Contract (possible extension)

Salary : $75.00 / Hourly

Role Description : The Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer must have 5+ years of experience. As a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer within our Opto-Mechanical Engineering team, you shall contribute to product development by delivering designs, analysis, building and testing state of the art optical assemblies. You would be part of a multi-disciplinary team that brings virtual display concepts to reality.

Key Responsibilities :

• Contribute to the development of tools for assembly and characterization of novel AR technology demonstration devices.
• Prepare and review ASME Y14.5 / ISO GPS compliant technical drawings.
• Create new system concepts incorporating miniature optics into novel opto-electronic devices.
• Participate in activities related to design, fabrication, operation, application, testing, and production activities in the office.
• Develop procedures and documentation for alignment and assembly of optical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Work closely with local shops, CMs, and cross-functional internal company teams to : evaluate DFM feedback, analyze its impact on system performance, and integrate required design changes into complex consumer devices.
• Participate in collaborative meetings with multidisciplinary teams to design fixtures, calibration equipment or production components.
• Contribute to technical design reviews with the Program Manager representing the concerns of their functional specialty on the product development team.

Project / Team Context

The Opto-Mechanical Engineering team works closely with Optical Designers, Production Engineers, and others on the design and development of novel ‘optical engines’ for our next generations of Augmented Reality devices. Team members design opto-mechanical subsystems within the optical engine, as well as the tooling and processes used to assemble and characterize them. This role will be in the Boulder office, where these activities focus on building early prototypes of these devices and processes.

Success Metrics :

A successful team member in this role will take ownership of aspects of our development processes. Leading the design and implementation of custom tooling, validating the usage of that tooling for device assembly, and documenting the design and operation of this tooling for transfer to production environments. In addition, this team member will be a contributor to design reviews, drawing reviews, and tech transfer activities, providing meaningful input to cross-functional teams to improve system-level design decisions.
