What You'll Do

As a key member of our leadership team, you'll be the trusted legal partner guiding our company through complex, high-impact decisions. You'll provide strategic counsel, ensure compliance, and help shape policies that drive growth and innovation.

Be the Go-To Legal Expert : Deliver clear, strategic legal advice to executives, managers, and teams on business-critical, regulatory, and day-to-day matters.

Own the Deal Flow : Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, RFPs, and key business agreements that keep our operations running smoothly and securely.

Shape Company Policy : Collaborate on the creation and continuous improvement of corporate policies, compliance programs, and governance frameworks.

Partner with People : Work closely with HR to ensure fair, compliant, and effective handling of investigations and employment-related matters.

Build & Streamline Systems : Lead the evolution of our Legal department—optimizing internal processes and implementing tools like a contract lifecycle management system.

Stay Ahead of the Curve : Monitor emerging laws, regulations, and trends to proactively protect and enhance our business.

Adapt and Contribute : Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the organization and the Legal function.

Lead & Inspire : Lead, coach, and develop Legal team members in alignment with Pelican's values, fostering growth, collaboration, and excellence.

What We're Looking For

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law.

J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing of the Bar.

Experience handling and advising on employment regulations and best practices - USA (California & Massachusetts focus)

Experience working in-house and on matters of corporate governance.

Superior level of legal skill, political acumen, independent judgment.

In depth experience in commercial and intellectual property law, including patent law, licensing of IP rights and IP due diligence.

Compensation & Benefits :

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this position is listed below. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
