Archivist / Librarian / Historian

We seek a full-time, year-round Archivist / Historian / Librarian responsible for assembling, cataloguing, preserving, and managing various collections of historical information and artifacts. This role is in‑person in midtown Manhattan, NYC.
Schedule : Monday through Friday, 40 hours. Willing to travel and work additional hours as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Managing historic archives and sourcing new materials.
Research, writing, cataloging, and digitizing documents, photos and artifacts.
Conduct historical research and occasionally write related content as needed.
Travel as necessary – regular domestic travel for ongoing projects.
Work and travel on tight deadlines and sometimes with short notice.
Follow instructions and guidelines for handling collections and materials to a museum standard.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all materials.
Lift and move items up to around 40 lbs as needed.
Assist with other tasks and projects required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience with museum or archival collections.
Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
MLIS (focus in archives) or a degree in museum studies.
Prior experience working in museum, historical society or auction house.
Experience in genealogy research.
