The USC Department of Financial and Business Services (FBS) USCard Services is seeking a Computer Consultant Specialist to join our team!

Work Arrangement : This position is fully onsite and involves supporting operations across two campuses.

The Opportunity :

As the Computer Consultant Specialist you will provide specialized technical support assistance and advice on the use of computer hardware software and networks to faculty students and staff. You will deliver outstanding customer service and proactively assist with any technology needs ensuring users have the support they need to succeed.

The Accountabilities :

Provides expert consulting services in specialized areas such as specialized software critical computer / networked systems data access / analysis and / or academic research.

Provides support for specialized software / data installation configuration and planning. Investigates and analyzes various specialized computing options and solutions.

Seeks opportunities to integrate systems and services for collaboration between units and / or the university at large as appropriate. Partners with departmental and / or central information technology service groups to establish or maintain system interfaces and day-to-day operational processes.

Plans designs and conducts specialized end user training for groups or individuals.

Plans and implements new upgrades and / or specialized software releases. Determines impact of changes recommending and facilitating delivery to users.

Interacts with hardware and software vendors as well as outside technical support providers / consultants to establish competitive pricing warranties etc. and maintain supportive relations for critical functionality of applicable products.

Researches gathers organizes and summarizes data for reports. Analyzes data for trends or conclusions and presents results and recommendations to supervisor.

Stays informed of new developments and technologies by reading journals and other pertinent publications maintaining contact with vendors and participating in professional organizations meetings and seminars.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Qualifications :

All candidates for the position of Computer Consultant Specialist must meet the following minimum qualifications :

Bachelors degree; however combined experience / education as substitute for minimum education.

3 years of related work experience; however combined experience / education as substitute for minimum work experience.

Expert skill-level in specialty area and experience in computing environments.

User support experience with servers operating systems workstations networks LANs and network software.

Valid CA drivers license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website.

The ideal candidate for the position of Computer Consultant Specialist meets the following preferred qualifications :

Bachelors degree in computer science.

4 years of related experience.

Data center experience.

The hourly rate range for this position is $39.58 - $49.00. When determining an offer the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role the candidates experience education training key skills internal peer alignment applicable laws contractual requirements grant funding and market conditions.
