ORGANIZATION INFORMATION :

Established in 1984, Equitas Health is a regional not-for-profit community-based healthcare system and federally qualified community health center look-alike. Its expanded mission has made it one of the nation’s largest HIV / AIDS, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer / questioning (LGBTQ+) healthcare organizations. With 22 offices in 12 cities, it serves more than 67,000 individuals in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia each year through its diverse healthcare and social service delivery system focused around : primary and specialized medical care, retail pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, HIV / STI prevention, advocacy, and community health initiatives.

SALARY : $74,500- $89,400

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Benefits and Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs and compensation structures to ensure market competitiveness and compliance with legal requirements. This role plays a critical part in developing, implementing, and maintaining equitable compensation practices and benefits plans that attract and retain top talent while aligning with the organization's strategic goals. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring the organization's compensation strategies remain competitive and equitable, fostering employee satisfaction and retention.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

The Benefits and Compensation Specialist supports the organization by ensuring that compensation and benefits programs are competitive, equitable, and compliant with applicable laws. This role is responsible for maintaining compensation structures, overseeing benefits administration, conducting salary benchmarking, and ensuring payroll accuracy. Additionally, the specialist collaborates with HR leadership to implement total rewards strategies, manage vendor relationships, and support employees with compensation and benefits inquiries.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES :

Compensation Management :

  • Implement and maintain compensation structures that align with market trends and organizational objectives.
  • Conduct salary surveys, benchmark compensation, and recommend pay structure adjustments to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Administer incentive programs, bonuses, and other variable pay plans to reward performance.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations for executive compensation structures and practices.

Benefits Administration :

  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave policies.
  • Manage benefits enrollment processes, coordinate annual open enrollment, and educate employees on available benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as ACA, ERISA, and HIPAA.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.
  • Payroll & Compliance :

  • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of compensation-related adjustments, deductions, and benefits contributions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA and pay equity laws.
  • Prepare reports and audits related to compensation and benefits, ensuring data integrity and regulatory adherence.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes affecting compensation and benefits and recommend necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
  • Employee Support & Training :

  • Develop and deliver training materials on compensation and benefits topics to enhance employee understanding and engagement.
  • Provide direct support to employees regarding pay, benefits enrollment, claims resolution, and policy clarifications.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and responsiveness by addressing compensation and benefits inquiries with a high level of customer service.
  • EDUCATION / LICENSURE :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Qualifications :

  • 3+ years of experience in compensation analysis required.
  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration required.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation strategies, market analysis, and pay structure design.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, preferably UKG Pro and compensation analysis software such as CompAnalyst preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Ability to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Experience in a non-profit or healthcare setting is a plus.
