Position Scope

The Heavy Equipment Operator position is designated as safety sensitive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols at all times. The operator must be proficient in operating machinery such as D8‑D9 dozers and 345‑352 excavators in accordance with project specifications to ensure efficient and compliant operations. The operator will also be responsible for the daily servicing and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained throughout the project duration. The role requires operating in mountainous terrain with steep slopes, uneven surfaces, rocky mountain terrain, and potential for landslides or loose soil, requiring mountain‑specific safety protocols, equipment handling, and environmental considerations.

Primary Duties

• Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals.
• Assist with setup and tear down of plants.
• Perform general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor.
• General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily or as directed by supervisor.
• Lift objects weighing 80 lb. on a regular basis.
• Use a shovel to move material as necessary.
• Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy.
• Perform pre‑shift inspections on equipment prior to startup.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience with D8‑D9 dozers and 345‑352 excavators.
• Must have GPS experience; Trimble experience preferred.
• Experience operating heavy equipment at 30‑85% grade on sheer rock conditions.
• Must pass a Government Background Check.
• Must hold an M.S.H.A. 5000‑23 certificate.
• Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications.
• Team player.
• Mechanical knowledge of equipment and the ability to perform routine maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch.
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends if required.
