Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 484 bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of primary and specialty care clinics in Minneapolis and in suburban communities. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care and hospice, and operates a research institute, innovation center and philanthropic foundation.

SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a  Health Equity Educator Senior  to join our Health Equity team. This benefit eligible full-time role will work Monday – Friday, day shift. This position may have early morning or late evening hours to accommodate education offered in the 24 / 7 staffing models within the hospital setting.

Strong candidates for this role will have a solid facilitation background and will be expected to develop and lead various training courses, skilled in detailed administrative work, and project management. Significant background in anti-racism and health equity training and education. Applicants invited to interview for this role will be asked to prepare a 5-minute training on a health equity topic of their choosing to present during the interview stage.

This will be a hybrid position. Education and training sessions will be presented in-person, but there will be opportunities for some work to be completed remotely..

The Health Equity Educator Senior is a scholar that provides system wide education and training related to Health Equity and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and utilizes scientific literature and evidence-based practices to develop new system wide trainings. Skilled at program development and program evaluation. Plays a significant role in the delivery of the Journey into Health Equity Compass Program, among other educational efforts. This role is responsible for leading cohorts through the yearlong curriculum, ensuring that all the members of a cohort complete the program and satisfy the requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct trainings offered in the Journey into Health Equity Compass Program
  • Lead cohorts through the yearlong program from start to finish by working with leaders, as well as the project manager to ensure satisfactory completion of the program, maintaining constant communication with cohorts, attending pod meetings, connecting with the DEI executive coaches, and assisting with capstone projects
  • Work closely with Labor Relations to ensure completion of the Compass Program
  • Work closely with the Health Equity Project Manager to coordinate education efforts across the institution
  • Design and deliver diversity training programs and workshops to employees across the enterprise
  • Develop diversity training curriculum and monitor changes the literature to ensure the training stays current
  • Design and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of training on the workforce
  • Provide the trainings developed according to the overall education strategy
  • Coordinate with DEI clinicians, DEI executive coaches, and Cultural Navigators as needed
  • Work with appropriate departments to coordinate continuing education as needed
  • Work closely with Cortex and People and Culture as well as other departments as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree
  • 4 years of experience in training or providing education
  • Experience training on DEI or health equity
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Doctoral degree
  • History developing presentations or trainings
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

  • Scholar, highly skilled at critically assessing scientific literature
  • Solid knowledge base of DEI or health equity
  • Skilled facilitator
  • Effective educator
  • Well versed in conflict resolution
  • Comfortable with de-escalation
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Able to navigate virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom
  • Well versed in using software to aid the development and conducting of trainings such as Microsoft Power Point, Word, or others
  • Knowledgeable about adult learning theory, training development, training evaluations, and surveys
