Here's a summary of responsibilities :
The Manager, Internally Managed Sports (IMS) will oversee key athlete and coach development initiatives, manage the planning and execution of domestic competitions, lead the licensing and classification processes, and ensure operational excellence across the USPS program. The Manager will collaborate closely with USPS staff and stakeholders to implement departmental strategies and advance the goals of IMS. The Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the Paralympic Movement in the United States.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact :
- Manage team administration processes and track athlete data for the following : IF annual licensing, direct athlete support, EAHI, Games long lists, Team USA Athlete and 10-year athlete lists, athlete safety requirements, and personal performance plan competition results.
- Ensure communication with national team athletes, coaches, and the broader athlete pool, including the development of written performance plans, team selection procedures, and similar documents.
- In collaboration with other IMS program staff and department leadership, foster strong communication and a positive working relationship with IFs and the IOC / IPC.
- In collaboration with other IMS department staff, contribute to the athlete identification and development strategy. Represent the USOPC at national, regional, and local competitions and functions with particular emphasis on supporting the identification and development of potential team members.
- Serve as project manager for IMS hosted competitions and events. Secure venues and other necessary contracts for events and oversee ordering process for event related materials.
- Support U.S. Paralympics Swimming coaching education program. Serve as point of contact for coaching network and provide administrative support for virtual coaching clinics.
- Lead the planning and execution for the Jimi Flowers Classic, National Championships, and Para Pan Pacs, managing all aspects of event operations including scheduling, logistics, and educational programming for athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials.
- Manage onboarding and engagement efforts for new athletes, coaches, officials, and families. Oversee communication via the general sport inboxes.
- Manage the annual athlete licensing process in collaboration with the Manager, Classification, including form distribution, payment tracking, timeline management, and policy compliance.
- Manage national classification initiatives in partnership with the Manager, Classification, including overseeing documentation, planning logistics, and maintaining compliance with IF and national standards.
- Coordinate and book air travel, lodging arrangements, and ground transportation for internal Paralympic NGBs. Assist the internal Paralympic NGB staff with organizing and planning logistics for sport events and competitions.
- Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of virtual and in-person educational programs.
- Coordinate with the Performance Pathways department to elevate the visibility of Paralympic Swimming within NCAA and NFHS programs and support the growth of the athlete pipeline.
- Serve as the lead on anti-doping initiatives, coordinating with USADA to manage the Registered Testing Pool (RTP), Clean Athlete Program (CAP), and required annual education.
- Track and organize results for IF approved competitions in the United States. Submit results to IFs by published deadlines.
- Partner with the communications team to ensure the website is accurate, up-to-date, and user-friendly, with regularly refreshed resources for athletes, coaches, and the community.
