License : Valid state RN license required. Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Must-Have : Must have experience with advanced care level drips. Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Must be able to pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting assignment. Description : This unit takes advanced care level patients and requires experience with advanced care level drips. It is a mixed acuity unit. No holiday requests are being accepted. Travel partners are not permitted. A contract for 36 or 48 hours is accepted. For a 48-hour contract, overtime is paid out after 48 hours. There is no block scheduling available. Targeted patient ratios are 1 : 4, but they can be up to 1 : 5-6. The unit may participate in a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner together to care for a group of patients. The goal of this model is to divide the work and not the patients, ultimately improving both workload and patient care. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing depending on the needs of the unit. No more than 7 days of time off will be approved. Floating may be required to all step-down and advanced care units. Travelers will be the first to float at the agency's discretion. Travelers must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Medical exemptions for contracts are not accepted. Medical and behavioral patient populations may include chest pain rule-outs and other advanced care cases. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. The daily census is approximately 32 patients. There may be interdisciplinary support available, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Travelers must complete required lab work and EKG exams within specified time frames upon contract acceptance. Every application will be reviewed by management. All schedule requests must be included at the time of application submission. No references are required. Any state RN license is acceptable. Temporary licenses can be obtained on offer. Modules are billable up to 24 hours and must be completed during the contract.
