Job Summary :

The Substitute Assistant carries out the instructional and supervisory duties of a regular teacher in their absence. This includes managing the classroom, following lesson plans, and ensuring a safe, productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Follow and implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.

Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Supervise students during class and transitions.

Take attendance and report any issues to school administration.

Adapt teaching methods to fit student needs when necessary.

Leave notes or feedback for the returning teacher regarding the day’s activities.

Requirements :

High school diploma or bachelor’s degree (varies by district).

Valid substitute teaching permit or certification (as required by the state or district).

Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Ability to work with students of various ages and learning levels.

Reliability, flexibility, and a professional demeanor.
