JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Abington is searching for up to eight (8) part-time STEM Academy Teaching Assistants for an in-person math and science based high school program at a community organization in Northeast Philadelphia. The Teaching Assistants will be responsible for offering classroom support and content tutoring while working with faculty in STEM fields (Engineering, Math, Physics, IST, Computer Science). Project activities will occur between September 5 and June 5 , with opportunities to extend project participation into later semesters. Program activities take place between 1 : p.m. to 6 : p.m. on most weekdays . Teaching Assistants will generally work between 8- hours per week. Hourly compensation for this opening is $ / hour with long-term participation in the project potentially being at a higher rate and / or for additional hours.

Job Duties

• Work collaboratively to deliver STEM based instruction, activities, and labs for high school students.
• Follow and revise written instructions and supporting materials for all STEM activities.
• Provide weekly updates, reports, and materials to STEM Faculty Coordinator.
• Communicate regularly with fellow STEM team members and Faculty Coordinator to ensure proper content and problem solving.

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks : PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
