Dfp Manager Of Manufacturing Engineering
How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities) : The DFP Manager of Manufacturing Engineering will lead a team of approximately 7-12 Individual Merit Contributors who have a background in Engineering related disciplines and who specialize in manufacturing of both electrical and mechanical / structural aircraft assemblies. DFP's product lines that will be supported consist of cabin interior assemblies that involve composite, sheet metal, machining, and wire harness manufacturing processes. Special Processes supported include bonding, chemical processing and paint application. The manager must be able to do all of the following :
Provide hands-on leadership to a Manufacturing Engineering team focused on developing and improving manufacturing processes, safety, quality and efficiencies.
Oversee a team focused on executing strategic initiatives critical to the set-up of new production lines for new products by :
- Estimating production costs for new programs that will be bid on by Production
- Value Stream mapping the processes required for the production cells
- Providing Design for Manufacturability reviews of new product designs
- Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for all new Special Processes not yet developed
- Identifying tooling and equipment required to produce new products
Oversee the tactical actions that support day-to-day operations by :
Developing and maintaining Methods of Manufacture for all parts produced at DFPDeveloping and maintaining Work Instructions for standard work performed at DFP to comply with DFP's Quality Control Plans and to achieve consistent productReview day-to-day tool and gauge needs at the job level to ensure work being issued to the Production floor is ready to be worked in the timeframe neededEvaluating daily needs for technical assistance from the Production work cell areas to facilitate work in-progressAssist in identifying root cause of any product failure related to production error or process failures in the Production departmentBuild, develop and lead a high-performing team. Hire staff, assign work, maintain employee records, set standards, train for skill and coach team members to achieve objectives. Foster teamwork and open collaboration within the team and organization
Develop both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) :
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.Five (5) years of experience in a process engineering role involving manufacturing, repair or modification, three (3) of which in a lead or supervisory role preferred. Experience in aviation related manufacturing is highly desired.Must demonstrate strong knowledge of process design and improvementMust be able to define engineering work statements and provide accurate labor estimates.Must be self-starting, detail-oriented and an effective planner and project manager. Must also have specific knowledge of engineering workflows, configuration control and change management.Must be an effective leader and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must demonstrate good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Must be familiar with continuous improvement methods.Must be able to travel occasionally (Must have experience with leading teams of technical people and managing complex projects.Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications) :
