Join our dynamic team as a Material Costing Specialist, where you will play a pivotal role in leveraging your expertise, technology, and analytics to effectively determine material and Build-To-Print (BTP) part costs for various engineering projects. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the supplier RFQ process for designated commodity groups across multiple engineering projects, ensuring timely completion of all cost estimates.
Lead negotiations with component-level suppliers to secure competitive pricing solutions.
Utilize your commodity expertise to analyze market trends and pricing sensitivities, ensuring cost competitiveness.
Foster strong relationships with suppliers by understanding their key operations and capabilities.
Develop and implement strategic plans for specific commodities, including competitive benchmarking and supplier analysis.
Identify and propose alternate component solutions when necessary to optimize costs.
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex parts during the bidding process.
Maintain and update the material prices database, analyzing components for cost competitiveness and customer compliance.
Create comprehensive material cost Bills of Materials (BOM) for bidding purposes and managerial presentations.
Collaborate with engineering teams to assess BTP part costs during product development and VAVE cost reduction initiatives.
Manage and escalate critical shortages and delivery issues to support development projects.
Engage in kick-off meetings and collaborate with global customer units and counterparts from various regions.
Provide support and guidance to team members to ensure compliance with established processes.
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of BTP manufacturing materials, processes, and logistics.
In-depth knowledge of market conditions affecting BTP, including pricing trends and supply / demand dynamics.
Proficient in relevant software applications, including ERP systems (SAP) and office productivity tools (Google G-Suite, Microsoft Office).
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the capacity to handle multiple deadlines.
Able to read and interpret BTP 2D production drawings and review 3D models with appropriate software.
Knowledge of GD&T tolerances and their impact on manufacturing costs.
Experience Requirements
6 to 10 years of relevant experience in material costing or a related field.
Experience with product types such as sheet metal parts, plastic and metal machined parts, and weldments is preferred.
Background in supplier qualification and fabrication techniques such as sheet metal or machining is advantageous.
Familiarity with aPriori software is a plus.
Work Environment
This role primarily involves office work with possible domestic and international travel.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range estimated between $90,000 and $120,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, short and long-term disability, life insurance, and a 401k plan with company match.
