Position Summary

To support research focused on identifying biomarkers and understanding molecular features associated with specific genetic aberrancies in oncology disease. The intern will use patient-derived omics datasets and computational modeling to predict candidate biomarkers and characterize their impact on tumor biology through analysis of spatial transcriptomic data. This position offers a hands-on research experience within a collaborative, cross-functional team in a dynamic R&D environment. The intern's work will generate valuable insights into disease mechanisms and contribute to strategic decision-making for drug development

The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Prediction Modeling : Apply predictive modeling techniques to identify candidate biomarkers that improve identification of patients with specific genetic aberrancies.

Spatial Transcriptomic Analysis : Utilize spatial transcriptomic data to characterize molecular features associated with specific genetic aberrancies in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Flexible Deliverables : Project goals may be tailored to fit the intern's interests and skills. For example, predictive modeling can be broadened to benchmark multiple methodologies, and spatial transcriptomic analysis may extend to multi-modal, integrative data analysis.

Qualifications & Experience

Currently enrolled in a PhD program in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.

Proficiency in at least one scripting language (R preferred).

Familiarity with data reproducibility best practices (e.g., Git / GitHub; containers / workflows are a plus).

Experience analyzing spatial transcriptomics data and / or building prediction models using omics data types.

A strong foundation of cancer biology is a plus.

Must be able to work full-time for the program duration.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $35.00 to $43.00 / hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.

Compensation Overview :

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
