About the Investigative Reporter
The Investigative Reporter is responsible for developing, reporting, and writing high-impact stories featured on Crime Junkie and The Deck. This position requires deep investigative experience, strong editorial judgment, and an ability to tell stories that honor victims and their families while maintaining journalistic integrity.
What You’ll Do
Lead and oversee investigative projects for Crime Junkie and The Deck
Conduct in-depth research using public records, FOIA requests, interviews, and data analysis
Source, fact-check, and develop long-form investigative stories aligned with Audiochuck’s mission
Collaborate with producers and editors to adapt reporting into compelling podcast scripts
Partner with legal and editorial teams to ensure ethical, accurate, and compliant storytelling
Manage multiple investigations and deadlines simultaneously
What You’ll Bring to the Table
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred
8+ years of investigative reporting experience with a record of producing high-profile stories
Strong interviewing skills and experience working with sensitive or vulnerable sources
Advanced research and writing skills; proficiency with FOIA and data journalism
Excellent judgment, integrity, and understanding of legal and ethical issues in reporting
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced media environment

The base salary for this role is between $70,000 and $100,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as : transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
