American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and critical care certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position based in a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute care hospitalStepdown setting specializing in adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG casesPatient ratios are 1 : 4-5Night shifts are 12 hours (1830-0700), every other weekend requiredUses Epic for charting; previous Epic experience preferredRequired to float to medical, ICU, or rehab floors as neededTitration of drips including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications is part of the assignmentNo call or standby requiredCharge nurse available each shift; patient care techs support at a 1 : 10 or 2 : 20 ratioProvide advanced care including titration of cardiac and seizure drips to adult and geriatric patientsFirst week consists of onboarding and skills review with 1-2 days of unit-specific orientationMust pass a skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientationArtificial nails are prohibited for all staff in patient care; compliance is required to maintain employmentSupportive team environment with a charge nurse on each shift and access to patient care tech assistanceHoliday coverage required every third holidayRequired time off (RTO) must be requested up front and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years RN experience, preferably in a PCU, stepdown, or similar acute settingCurrent AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredExperience with titratable drips and care of adult / geriatric progressive care patient populations requiredDriver’s license required to verify residence outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityCandidates may not have worked as a full time, part time, or PRN employee for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the last year\n Benefits\n
