Advertised Job Summary :
The Postdoctoral Fellow will analyze observational data already collected by the Principal Investigator (PI), Enrique Lopez Rodriguez, using ALMA, SOFIA, VLA, and JWST. The Postdoctoral Fellow will obtain the structure and strength of the magnetic fields in the multi-phase interstellar and circumgalactic medium of starburst galaxies. This work is supported by the NASA Precursor Science award to guide the development of the next generation of far-infrared polarimeters by NASA.

Contribute to the Extragalactic Magnetism Group led by Prof. Enrique Lopez Rodriguez. The postdoctoral fellow will analyze observational polarimetric data in infrared and radio wavelengths (i.e., ALMA, JWST, SOFIA, VLA, SKA) as well as other gas tracers (CO, HI, Halpha), taken with a variety of observatories (i.e., VLA, JWST). The ultimate goal is to characterize the evolution and role of magnetic fields and dust in nearby starburst galaxies.

Maintain an independent line of research, which will include formulating original research questions not directly linked with the main research topic of the postdoctoral position, developing and submitting observing proposals, analyzing observations, and disseminating findings through publications in high-impact astrophysical journals. The postdoctoral fellow is encouraged to identify opportunities for collaboration outside the USC research team by attending national and international meetings and contributing to grant writing as needed.
