Assistant Director of Nursing Role Overview

Core Responsibilities

Assist in developing and implementing nursing department policies and objectives to maintain high standards of patient care.

Support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to nursing care and healthcare services.

Create and maintain schedules to ensure departments have adequate nursing coverage for each shift.

Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Maintain positive relationships with staff, patients, and their families to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Conducting regular rounds to assess patient conditions and monitor nursing care.

Verifying the accuracy and currency of patient records.

Champion evidence-based nursing practices and encourage professional development and education among the nursing team.

Assist in crisis management and conflict resolution within the nursing department.

What We Look for in Our Assistant Director of Nursing

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Master’s preferred) from an accredited institution.

Current RN licensure in Minnesota.

A minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.

Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

A commitment to nursing excellence, patient care, and professional ethics.
