The Office of Innovation and Economic Development is SIU’s primary outreach arm to the region, offering business development, workforce innovation, economic development, and community engagement services and activities throughout Southern Illinois.
Pending grant funding, part-time, front-facing, first-point-of-contact for the Office of Innovation and Economic Development's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at SIU.
Examples of Duties
Under the direction of the Office of Innovation and Economic Development Executive Director (OIED) and the Program Director of Entrepreneurship & Business Development (Small Business Development Center, aka SBDC), this position will handle the following duties :
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree,
One year customer service experience with at least 6 months experience in a high-volume office setting,
Valid driver's license.
Preferred experience with small business ownership and / or management. Preferred degree in business, accounting, marketing, management, workforce, or related degree.

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination / Testing : The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination / testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score.
