Access Services Associate

CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity available for an Access Services Associate. This position is responsible for registering and scheduling patients in accordance with established procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient intake process. The associate pre-screens patients to determine accurate financial responsibilities, secures all necessary legal consents and insurance documentation, and obtains pre-certification authorization when required. This role plays a key part in supporting patient access and contributing to the overall quality of care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Registers each account in hospital registration system following all departmental procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Obtains and determines the coordination of benefits and accurately inputs into computer software system following industry standards and departmental procedure.
  • Clearly documents in computer system all communication with patients, family members, insurance companies and physicians. Documents any exceptions to standard procedure.
  • Follows federal and state standards and complies with all regulations including accurate completion the MSP form and DOBI consent.
  • Accurately utilizes Imaging system by scanning all paperwork into correct document and folder during registration, scheduling and verification process.
  • Completes quality checks and reviews each registration and verification for correct information. Seeks assistance and plans corrective action.
  • Handles departmental paperwork flow in a manner consistent with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Follows up on incoming faxes, taking any necessary action and filing them in appropriate folders, or bringing them to the lab or scheduling as needed.
  • Answers incoming calls in a timely, professional and courteous manner, using name of department and identifying self as appropriate.
  • Accurately enters all diagnosis codes into the registration system.
  • Obtains patient signatures on ABN forms for those charts with missing codes.
  • Follows up with physician offices to obtain missing codes as needed.
  • Contacts patients to complete accurate pre-registrations prior to procedure.
  • Maintains productivity within guidelines set by department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required or a minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare-related clerical position in lieu of diploma.
  • Hospital experience in registration or billing preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Compensation Range : $18.00 - $28.80 per hour

    The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

    The compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.

Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs.
