The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions : Army National Guard Air National Guard Civil Air Patrol and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities State and nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado veterans. Description of Job

This position is located at Joint Force Headquarters in Centennial Colorado. This position serves to provide environmental field activities / operations in support of the Colorado National Guard and the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Specific duties include but are not limited to :

• auditing waste sampling analyzing and monitoring environmental compliance planning and program / project review assisting with characterization managing storing and disposing of wastes;
• implementing the priorities for organizational compliance program targets and objectives;
• complying with environmental laws regulations executive orders biological options and policies governing natural and cultural resources;
• reviewing and evaluating environmental projects and activities for conservation targets and objectives;
• implementing program activities to reduce the quantity of hazardous / non-hazardous wastes through source reduction / process change;
• developing and maintaining waste stream analysis and opportunity assessments to reduce pollution;
• traveling among assigned regions;
• assisting in the development of departmental budget to ensure that valid environmental programs are properly identified justified and considered in program work plans; and
• managing assigned program funds efficiently and assist with program funds distribution and obligation.

Masters degree from an accredited college or university in an environmental discipline hazardous materials or closely related field as determined by the department (unofficial transcripts of Masters degree must be attached for consideration).
